If youâre anything like us, âdate nightâ can easily turn into the same rotationâdinner, maybe a movie, home by 9 becauseâŠlife. But every once in a while, something comes along that shakes things up in the best way.
Enter: a ghost tour in downtown Phoenix.
Yes, really.
Jeremy and I recently stepped way outside our usual routine and joined the Wings of Fire & Whispers of the Desert Phoenix Ghost Tourâand it ended up being one of the most unexpectedly fun, interesting, and honestly hilarious nights weâve had in a long time.

The tour itself is about an hour long and takes you through some of downtown Phoenixâs most historic (and apparently haunted đ) locations.
From the website description, it promises:
And honestly? It delivered on ALL of thatâbut also so much more.
This wasnât just a âghost stories in the darkâ kind of experience. It felt like part history lesson, part storytelling experience, and part âhold on a secâŠdid that actually happen?â moment.

Let me just say this upfrontâour guide, Madison, MADE this experience.
She wasnât just reciting scripted ghost stories. She clearly knew her stuff and had gone way beyond the basics. She shared:
It felt like walking through the city with someone who genuinely loves its historyâand happens to know all the spooky details too.
And honestly, thatâs what elevated the entire experience. It didnât feel cheesy or forced. It felt…immersive.

At one point, we stopped at a historic hotel known for itsâŠletâs just say active past.
As Madison shared the storiesâmultiple sightings, unexplained experiences, and the kind of details that make your skin crawlâI could literally feel Jeremy shifting next to me.
His official review?
âWe are NEVER staying there.â
đđđ
Which, honestly, just made it even better.
Thereâs something about hearing those stories while standing in the exact spot where they supposedly happened that hits differently.
One of the coolest parts of this tour?
Thereâs a location included that most people donât get access to.
I wonât spoil it completely (because thatâs part of the fun), but it felt like we got a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Phoenix history that you wouldnât stumble into on your own.
That little âinsiderâ element made the whole experience feel more exclusiveâand definitely more memorable. (Sneak peek below!)

If youâre in Phoenix (or visiting), this is such a fun way to do something different together.
Hereâs why we loved it as a date night:
Absolutely.
Whether youâre into ghost stories, history, or just looking for something different to do in downtown Phoenix, this tour is 100% worth it.
Itâs fun. Itâs unique. And thanks to Madison, itâs incredibly well done.
Plus, any night that ends with your husband swearing off a hotel for life is a win in my book.
And most importantlyâŠhave fun with it. (And if you do go and see some ghosts, we want to hear about it!)
